Question - palun abi

Postitus Postitas flyershistory »

I'll ask a question in English and *try* to ask it in Estonian...
(I am just learning the langauge !)

This is for the page:

http://www.ra.ee/dgs/_purl.php?web=saag ... 8.1.115:11

On the last column, in the middle - are Mango Mihkel, Peter, Kaarl and Abro Jurri brothers ? And what does the heading above their names mean ?

Viimane kolonn - keskmine - kas on Mango Mihkel, Peter, Kaarl ja Abro Jurri vennad ?

Ja mis on pealkiri tähendus ?

Hi!

They can be brothers, but we can not be shore about it.

The heading "lostreiber" above their names means free peasant (vabadik).

I have found Peter's marriage ...

http://www.ra.ee/dgs/_purl.php?web=saag ... 1278.2.4:6

(#19)

It doesn't look like the normal writing to be Nori Hann Michel's son. It looks like "Aufzugling" or "Aufziegling" - what does that mean ?

And his wife shows as Marri Kuk - is Kuk a middle name or last name ? It seems uncommon for a free peasant to marry somebody with a last name in 1774. What does it say after her name ? (it also has that "Aufzugling" or "Aufziegling" too)

Peter is my 4*great grandfather

"Aufzögling" means stepchild, foster child.
About Mari: I think, her stepfathers name is Kukkema Ado. Kukkema should be a farmplace`s name. (...but I`m not 100 % sure)
On Saaga`s first page there is a title "Abimaterjalid" (facilities). There You can find occupations(ametinimetused), abbrevations (lühendid), causes of death (surmapõhjus) and other stuff.

Tänan väga !!

The "In English" version of Saaga does not show "Abimaterjalid" - so thank you VERY much. And thank you very much for the "Aufzögling" translation. Both of those things helps me very much !

I don't belive this 4 persons are brothers, actually this 4 families are different free peasants families in village Neidnorm (Nedremaa).

The name Kukkema is correct. In the village Peäntak (Peantse) really existed Kukkema farmplace.

Thank you Aare,

Since Peter was an orphan or a foster child, it is likely that those are not brothers too.

For another translation that I could not find ...

#19 , it says Hans, Munnako Hannus <something>

The "something" looks like "kunist" ... it seems to be a common word, but I can't find it anywhere. Can anybody help ?

(Hans is Peter's daughter-in-law's father)

Word is "knecht", it means farmhand.
So Hans was farmhand at Munako Hannus.

Thank you again ! I guess I know what job my ancestor did but I'll have to dig more to try and find his parents, if it's even possible.
