birth place/living place

I have been doing research into my esivanedmaid....several family streams. A mystery remains as to what the place names that are noted beside individuals indicate. Is it their birth place or their place of living (and working) place?
So, for example, at eaa1268_001_0000117_00053 recording the marriage of Hans Timpka and Anne Taader, what do the place names Alt Laitzen and Lutznik indicate? I suspect it is their birth place which is not necessarily as significant as their the living place village, manor house or farm where the family was established. I am supposing that often the young mother-to-be went back to her mother's people for the birthing, and so the place name associating with that person has more to do with the wife's parents than the young couple themselves. This makes it difficult to establish or follow the lives of a family line.
Can anyone firstly explain the place names listed in the example above? And can anyone comment on the general question arising, as discussed above.
Thanking in anticipation,
Rein
