Hi,
I'm sorry I don't speak Estonian.
I would like to ask for help in reading the record 35 marriage of Jüri Adler son of Jakob and Pabbo Maks daughter of Johan.
I speak German so just reading is ok.
Especially im interested in the place of birth of Jüri (Village and Parish) and where the marriage took place.
I'm looking for his ancestors.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Jüri is from Randen Hof - Rannu mõis or Manor of Rannu. He was an orthodox and the actual marriage took place at the orthodox church of Rõngu: Saaga EAA.1970.1.14:173?274,456,1421,594,0

Re: help in reading marriage / aidata abielu
Thank you very much !
They both went to Russia later. But all the children were baptised in an Lutheran church in Novgorod. Only in one baptism record of the last child from 90th I found information that the father was Ortodox at that time. By I thought maybe he became Ortodox in Russia.
Thank you.

Thank you.
I found the record but didn't get "der Grieche" .
Very interesting way of describing an Ortodox peron.
Now I look for Juri Ortodox birth record.Unfortunately I can not find years around 1852 for Ortodox church in Rannu.

Re: help in reading marriage / aidata abielu
Juri was mentioned as greek, meaning orthodox, also in their marriage record:
Randen Hof: Viehkerl Juri Adler, Jakobs S(ohn), ledig, 30 J(ahr). Eltern todt, griech(isch).
To understand the terminology, one has to go back to the year 1054 when christianity was divided in two separate churches: the western Roman catholic and the eastern Greek(catholic) church. The eastern church called itself orthodox (from the greek words ortho, right and doxa, opinion).
Nowadays the eastern doctrine is referred to as the Orthodox church. But earlier it was commonly known as Greek-catholic or Greek-orthodox or just Greek church. So, in these lutheran church records a member of the Orthodox church was briefly griechisch or der Grieche. - Sorry, but can not help You with the Orthodox church records, as I don’t read russian.
